Why we like it?
- Beautiful – This floor is made with Croatian Oak, so the colour is more consistent than container products typically sold online. The knots are also precision filled, as opposed to the knots you see on rustic floors. It’s finished with a matt laquer (we don’t do shiny lacquered floors)
- Shape – These planks are wider and longer than floors typically at this price point (182mm width and 2.2m in length!!)
- Easy to maintain – As this floor is lacquered, it requires less maintenance than an oiled floors.
- Full of character – The floor is a mixed grade so has some knots, but not too many. In any pack of flooring, some planks will have very few knots, others will have several. Blend them together and you get a floor full of character.
- Sustainable – The floor is made from fully FSC accredited Croatian Oak. The factory is based close to where the forest where the timber is milled.
- Easy to fit – This floor is a click system floor and the planks simply slot together, so no PVA glue is required during fitting. We recommend this floor is fitted on a floated basis on a level subfloor.
- Great Value – Due to the quality of lacquers, the grading of this floor and also its sustainability we believe this to be one of the best value floors on the market.
Why you should look elsewhere?
- This is middle grade floor so has knots. Whilst this gives the floor character, our clean grade floors offer a different aesthetic.
- Whilst lacquered floors are easy to maintain, you cannot refresh them with a coat of oil in the same way as our Newington or Kent Range.
- Make sure you allow for wastage. For our plank floors, we normally recommend 10% wastage.
- We recommend this plank floor is fitted floated on an underlay. This means the subfloor (the structural part the floor rests on, which is normally plywood or screed) must be level and sound to avoid floor bounce. The British Standards guidelines stipulates that a floated floor subfloor should have no more than 3mm deviation across a 2m rule. PLEASE DON’T FLOAT A FLOOR ON AN UNEVEN SUBFLOOR.
