Hi, my name is Ed, and I founded Kite Flooring

Seven years ago I started a renovation project. And like almost every project I needed a floor. However, very soon my living room filled up with tiny samples that all looked the same and I became more and more confused with the different pieces of advice I was given. I also had no idea what made a good or bad floor as a floor seemed to be a commodity, to be bought at the cheapest possible price. There also seemed to be plenty of, so called, “Sales” happening across almost all online retailers.

Anyway, fast forward to the end of my project and I chose the wrong floor, and it was fitted badly. And that was one of the reasons I launched Kite.

So, as you begin your renovation journey, and it can be a journey, repeat after me. “Not All Floors Are Equal”. “Not All Floors Are Equal”.

Just like every other product in life, there is the good, bad and the seriously ugly. And just like every other industry, the rules of economics apply.

A well made floor has good quality oils or lacquers applied to it in multiple coats, has accurately filled knots, beautiful grains, and is manufactured accurately, so the planks slot together correctly.
